Why Make Texas Toast Pizzas?

Look, sometimes you just need a lunch or dinner that is ultra quick. I usually try to make sure my recipes are from scratch, with no processed ingredients. But if we’re honest, that isn’t possible 100% of the time.

So this recipe is for one of “those days” when you don’t have the time or the energy to make a more complicated meal. It just calls for 4 main ingredients with minimal prep work.

If you don’t have texas toast (or just prefer not to use it) I have some options for that too, so make sure to keep reading!

Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make these easy garlic toast pizzas in the air fryer:

Texas Toast – You’ll need one box of texas toast that comes with 8 slices in it. Or, use a bigger box and only take the 8 out that you need.

Mozzarella cheese – You can’t make pizza without this! I recommend buying a block of mozzarella and grating it yourself as it will be fresher, but you can also use pre-bagged if that’s all you have on hand.

Pizza Sauce – I love using this recipe for homemade pizza sauce. However, it is on the thinner side. You can also use a jarred sauce if you’d rather.

Pepperoni or desired toppings – Two pepperoni per piece of toast works great if everyone in the family likes it! Or, you can use your favorite toppings, like veggies, sausage, etc.

Optional: parmesan cheese – This is optional, but I love adding a little freshly grated parmesan on top the mozzarella before air frying. It just adds a little extra flavor!

Recipe Substitutions

There are a few ways you can adjust and customize this recipe to make it your own based on your preferences/what ingredients you have on hand.

  • No mozzarella cheese? You can also use other melting cheeses like provolone, monterey jack, or gouda. These may require more sophisticated of a palette, though. 😉
  • No jarred pizza sauce? In a pinch, you can make your own from a can of tomato sauce with italian spices.
  • No texas toast? These pizzas can easily be made with french bread, or rolls/buns. You can either make them with the cheese, sauce, and toppings as is, or you can add a garlic butter so they’re still “garlic bread pizzas.” If you want to do this, just mix up some softened butter, a little garlic powder, and some italian seasoning and spread it on the bread before adding everything else.
